Report type 5

Scope and Quotation Review Report

An independent review of a scope of works and associated quotation, assessing whether the scope is necessary and complete, and whether quantities, rates and margins are fair.

An independent check on scope and cost

When a scope of works and quotation arrives in a claim or dispute, the question is rarely simple. Is every item in the scope actually necessary? Is anything missing? Are the quantities accurate, the rates reasonable, and the margins appropriate? A Scope and Quotation Review Report provides an independent, line-by-line assessment of the scope and quotation provided — identifying items that are unnecessary, incomplete, overpriced, or underpriced — and recommending adjustments where warranted. It is a desktop review by default, with a site inspection available where the scope cannot be assessed from documents alone.

What the review covers

Necessity

Is each item in the scope actually required to repair the damage? Items that go beyond what is necessary to restore the property to its pre-loss condition are identified.

Completeness

Is the scope complete? Items that are missing from the scope but are necessary to properly repair the damage are identified and added to the recommended scope.

Quantities

Are the quantities accurate? Measurements are checked against the documents and, where a site inspection is instructed, against the physical dimensions of the work.

Rates and margins

Are the rates and margins reasonable for the type of work, the location, and the market at the time? Rates that are above or below market are identified and a recommended rate is provided.
