Report type 7
Peer Review Report
A critical review of another expert's report, assessing methodology, evidence, reasoning and compliance with the applicable expert report standard.
An independent check on another expert's report
When the other side produces an expert report, the question is not simply whether you agree with the conclusion — it is whether the methodology is sound, the evidence has been properly considered, the reasoning is defensible, and the report complies with the applicable standard. A Peer Review Report provides a structured, critical assessment of another expert's report, identifying errors, omissions, unsupported opinions, and departures from the applicable standard. It is a desktop review of the report and supporting documents provided.
What the peer review examines
Methodology
Was the investigation methodology appropriate for the type of claim? Were the right tests conducted, the right measurements taken, and the right standards applied?
Evidence
Has the expert properly considered all of the available evidence? Are there documents, photographs, or physical findings that have been overlooked or given insufficient weight?
Reasoning
Does the reasoning support the conclusion? Are the opinions logically derived from the findings, or do they go beyond what the evidence supports?
Standard compliance
Does the report comply with the ICA Use of Expert Reports: Industry Best Practice Standard, PNVCAT2, or the applicable court rules? Departures from the standard are identified and assessed.
